Mika's Special Day...1 Month Gotcha Day anniversary

Today is the one month anniversary of Mika's "Gotcha Day!" That's the day she was officially part of our family on this day.
We met our friends Dianne and Leanna for donuts and hot cocoa this morning on Kadena and then went to the frame shop to have a painting framed that we bought in Taipei.
We got a cake to celebrate and Mika got her first balloon. We don't think she had played with a mylar balloon before because she wasn't sure what to do with it at first. She didn't like it that it kept floating up in the air, but after a few minutes, she thought it was very funny and carried it around for quite awhile at home.
I grilled bar-b-que chicken and made broccolli and potatoes. These are her favorite foods right now!

Mika sings.....May 27, 2009

Mika was finsihed with her bath and almost ready for bed......she started singing so I grabbed the video camera. We'd been singing this song to her since we brought her home, but this was the first time she did it by herself!! We're also trying to teach her the ABC song. She loves copying everything we say.

Paradise Cove Luau May 17, 2009

On our last night in Hawaii we celebrated Mika's citizenship and went to the Paradise Cove Luau. We'd never been to a Luau before and it was so much fun. We had a wonderful time! It was very entertaining.

Waikiki Beach....May 16, 2009

Mika had her first visit to the beach today! We went across the street from our hotel and enjoyed Waikiki Beach. She was a little hesitant of the water at first, but then got comfortable and we couldn't get her out!!!
Tonight's our last night in Hawaii, so we've made plans to go to a Luau. We're excited about that.....

Hawaii- May 13th, 14th & 15th 2009

This picture was taken across the street from our hotel.

This is the Honolulu Zoo.....

This is the 1st toy Mika has ever asked for since we brought her home!! A purple panda from the Honolulu Zoo. She loves it.

Mika now has an American passport!!!!! YEA!

We had dinner with Jef & Amanda Spangler at the Hale Koa. She found our adoption agency for us.....therefore, she found Mika for us! Without her, we wouldn't have Mika. They are now lifelong friends.

We visited our adoption agency in Honolulu and said THANK YOU. This was the first time they've met us, and they were so nice and gracious. We feel so blessed. We couldn't believe we were really standing there with Mika in our arms. We're so glad they could meet her and see how important their work is.

Today in Waikiki May 12, 2009

We had another fun day in Waikiki. We went to the Waikiki aquarium and then took a taxi to WalMart to do some shopping. We had to buy another stroller because the other one didn't recline and she falls asleep when we go out and her little head kept bobbing around. She loves the new stroller and didn't want to get out of it!
We ate dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and Mika had her very first ice cream sundae!! She was so excited, it was very funny.
On the walk back to the hotel this evening we stopped to watch a performance of Hawaiian dancers.
Tomorrow's the BIG day....Mika will receive her American passport and social security number!! We'll also get to see some old friends that used to live on Okinawa and now live in Honolulu. Jef and Amanda adopted their daughter two years ago, and we've stayed in touch since we met them. She found our adoption agency for us and helped us find Mika!
Hawaii is a very special place for us, and it feels nice to be here again.
